Built for nonprofits, in the open
Chonk started as a real replacement for a real CiviCRM install — and grew into the CRM we wished every nonprofit had.
Where it came from
Chonk began as a real replacement for a real CiviCRM install — an organization running trail days, youth camps, lessons, recurring donations, and a merch shop. That’s not a toy use case; it’s the full spread of what a working nonprofit actually does. So we built for all of it.
What we believe
- Nonprofits deserve modern software. Not a 2008 admin panel with a 2024 price.
- Your data is yours. Open source, self-hostable, exportable, no lock-in.
- One person, one record. A donor, a member, a volunteer, and a customer are often the same human — the CRM should know that.
- Boring where it counts. Money in integer cents. Plain Postgres. Idempotent migrations. The exciting parts should be the features, not the bugs.
Open source
Chonk is developed in the open under the AGPL. You can read every line, run it yourself, and contribute. The commercial side is hosting and support — never a paywall around the features that matter.

Ready to let the big cat eat your stack?
Spin up Chonk on your own box with docker-compose, or let us host it. Either way, you get the whole feature surface — not a stripped-down "community edition."
